Kate Thornton still holds a grudge

Kate Thornton has reportedly admitted that she has not forgiven Simon Cowell for axing her from The X Factor.

The TV host fronted the ITV1 talent search for three years before being dropped in 2007. She was replaced by Dermot O'Leary.

Thornton later revealed that she felt "let down" as she had been "assured privately and publicly" by Cowell that her job was safe.

"It did hurt and I was gutted. I still hold grudges," The Sun now quotes her as saying. "I think the way it was done hurt the most, and I was shocked when I found out.

"I think I did a good job on the show. Thanks, Simon."

Cowell is now said to be planning further changes for the programme's next series. Reports suggest that Dannii Minogue will be replaced by a male judge in 2009.

Good on her I say

goroos1994 20-12-2008 10:52 AM

I agree. Also, why a male judge? 3 men on the judging panel and only 1 woman?

Lauren 20-12-2008 11:00 AM

At least she's honest. I like her.

BBkid 20-12-2008 11:08 AM

Didn't she do Xtra Factor? If so, is she leaving?

She did the Xtra Factor equivalent for Pop Idol but presented the main show from series 1-3. Holly Willoughby presents Xtra Factor atm

Lmao, that's competey different, you were not on national TV!

I don't like the way she was unceremoniously dumped from the show. I didn't really rate her that highly when it came to presenting it, but it was unfair.

MR.K! 20-12-2008 02:35 PM

wasnt she the one who was fooling around with the contestants, or was that a rumour ?

Brekkie 20-12-2008 02:42 PM

I don't blame her at all - and Simon Cowell seems to be doing the same again with Danni Minogue in publicly and privately reassuring her that her job is safe, and then getting someone else to axe her a few months later. Considering Cowell's career is built around his so called honesty, it's a very nasty character trait.

As for a new male judge - yes, I think a new male judge would add alot to the show, but it should be replacing Louis, not Cheryl. I never understood why Louis was unsacked, and he just brings the series down IMO. He turned JLS from a promising new boyband into another ballad wrecking bunch of Westlife wannabes.

JOSHUAH! 20-12-2008 03:18 PM

I still prefer Kate over Dermot, he's so childish.

Callum 20-12-2008 03:27 PM

Can't blame the poor woman.

Damaris 20-12-2008 03:30 PM

Kate>Dermot.

Brekkie 20-12-2008 09:31 PM

Considering how positive the reaction has been to Holly on The Xtra Factor I don't think Dermot can consider himself too safe in the job now - though he's probably been saved by Holly getting pregnant.

I'd say that puts his job in more danger- both her and Simon have said she is definitely returning and they would be daft to let her go after the viewer response. But the Xtra Factor presenter is needed a lot more than the main presenter in the auditions, and she'll give birth around May ... a month before the auditions. I hope she stays on Xtra Factor though. I like Holly but shes rubbish at presenting where she just reads an autocue (Dancing on Ice).

At the moment she would be my number one choice to replace Davina if the producers ever found the balls to replace her.

rayheartbliss 21-12-2008 04:03 PM

i dont like cowell anymore anyway....
it was bad the way she was dropped off the show...i think simon is going to do the same to dannii

Dannii isn't going to be a big loss from the panel. If anything, her replacement will make the panel even stronger.
