Uni offers

I just logged in to my UCAS Track (compulsively - it's a habit now) this morning and saw that I have an unconditional offer from Glasgow University. I'm so happy! Woo :)

Lauren 24-12-2008 08:56 AM

Aberdeen x2, Strathclyde and St Andrews. I know St Andrews don't reply until the 15th of January, and I know that the Aberdeen admissions office closes at 12:30 today, so if they haven't replied by then, I won't hear anything until 2009 I think.

Aberdeen usually send them out after xmas - but that might've been because I was English, hahaha.

Which one you wanting to firm?

Those racists! Pah! My first two choices are Aberdeen and St Andrews, but I think St Andrews is probably going to be a Conditional offer (I'm applying for a popular course) so most likely A-Town!

Lewis. 24-12-2008 09:33 AM

Hugo 24-12-2008 09:34 AM

Glasgow - Politics
Aberdeen - Politics and International Relations
Aberdeen - Law with European Studies
St Andrews - International Relations and German
Strathclyde - Law and Politics

I've got an unconditional from UCLAN, Edgehill, Lancaster and Manchester. I've been rejected from Chester :joker:

Not sure if I want to go though ...

Applied for Psychology or Psychology & Criminology. Don't know what I've applied for where

Well done! I'm thinking I won't hear back from any of my other Unis until 2009, but I'm happy to have received an offer before Christmas!

Tom 24-12-2008 09:52 AM

Well I left college in May and got my results in August, and my UCAS was sent off in September so thats the only reason why I've got all mine back and they are unconditional. Good luck with yours though!

sol 24-12-2008 10:31 PM

Wow an unconditional! Congrats Z!

Princess 24-12-2008 10:32 PM

Congrats Greg you brainiac!

Z 13-01-2009 04:18 PM

I just got my second response - Unconditional from Aberdeen to do Law!

Glasgow - Unconditional
Aberdeen - Unconditional

Yet to hear from Aberdeen (applied twice for different courses), Strathclyde and St Andrews. I'm so happy!

GhettoSuperstar 14-01-2009 08:53 PM

 Just a little bit chuffed, you know!? Haha. I'm totally psyched for Uni now, though I really do need to go down and visit Glasgow Uni to see what it's like haha. I'm really liking the idea of moving there woo! Have you put an application in Doug??

Fom 15-01-2009 06:49 AM

Well done greg. My uni/drama school applications aren't going amazingly well, I have to through auditions before I get in, and they are so hard! This is when being an actor starts to get hard, but I have 4 more to go. I hope I get a bit of your luck haha!

Ahh good luck with your auditions Fom! I'm raging, my other three choices still haven't replied! Totally playing mind games with me... pfft.

Do you actually need qualifications though or does it just help?

You still need UCAS points to get in but they set their grade bars low. Because they look for talent and not academic achievement. They don't care if you write good essays, they just want to know if you can act. Obviously if you have good grades you will have a better chance.
But evrywhere that does an Acting course, they do an audition, and everywhere is impossible to get into, because you have so many people going for it. I have my next on sunday, then after that I have one on Valentines day.

I am a bit worried because my auditions are quite late, and if they have found someone just like me already then they will choose the person who came first.

I mean acting in general ... do you actually need qualifications to get into acting or does it just make chances bigger etc?

Ah, well instead of a qualification for acting... which you do get anyway when doing a course, when you finish the 3 year course you automatically get registered with Equity, which is the company that makes sure actors cant get paid below minimum wage. And can live with regular income.
Then you have the contacts you gain at the end of the course, because you do a final showcase where agents come to watch you and directors. So you get lots of work straight after you finish the course.

And its just plenty of experience you wont get chance to do anywhere else, if you dont go drama school/a good uni. You will not make it really really good in acting full stop. Everyone else is just lucky.
Luckily I am prepared to go 3-4 years constantly auditioning at the same place until I get in. If it means I get to go to the same drama school as Judi Dench then so be it!

Tom 19-01-2009 11:01 PM

^ Fair enough, I never realised there was so much to it. I just thought you auditioned for roles, you either get it or you don't and that was that :joker:
