The Streets to split-up & Skinner to become father

The Streets explains split plans

Mike Skinner has explained why he plans for The Streets to split after their fifth album.

The singer revealed earlier this year that he wanted to stop recording under his Streets moniker after two more LPs.

"The next album is the last album," he told NME. "I did a five-album deal and I don't think it would be right to be making Streets albums after that.

"I always envisaged them as a box-set and I've got a vision for each of the albums. The next one will bring it back to the start in a way."

He continued: "It will be a lot more futuristic in terms of production but a lot more train-of-thought. Maybe when I'm 40 and broke I might come back, but that all feels a bit pants."

The Streets' fourth LP Everything Is Borrowed is released next month.

Streets singer to become a father

Mike Skinner has announced that he is to become a father next year.

The Streets singer revealed that his long-term girlfriend Claire Le Marquand is expecting the couple's first child in April.

"Mike is delighted. He can't wait to be a dad," a source told The Sun.

"He says this is the best Christmas gift ever. He is doting on Claire and making sure she puts her feet up at home."

The couple met after Le Marquand got a job working at the band's record label Warner Bros.

Skinner recently announced that The Streets' fifth album would be the last.
