Currently the warmest year on record is 1998, which saw average temperatures of 14.52C - well above the 1961 to 1990 long-term average of 14C.

Professor Phil Jones, director of the climate research unit at the University of East Anglia, said: "The fact that 2009, like 2008, will not break records does not mean that global warming has gone away.

"What matters is the underlying rate of warming - the period 2001-2007, with an average of 14.44C, was 0.21C warmer than corresponding values for the period 1991-2000."

The same experts predicted last year and the year before so they can't be that bad, plus its been quite warm for this time of year as well :puzzled:

They said 2009 will be the hottest summer since the 1600's and part of that was because it was the 1 in 7 hot summer thing. So this is probably rubbish lol

Yeh i reckon we will. Cold winter-hot summer like it used to be back in the day!

It goes from 1 extream to the other, but pleaaaaase some sun without the sticky humid part. yea pigs may just float through the sticky sunny snowing sleet english (make your bloody mind up) weather like a lovely flutterby

1 or 2 years ago they said that it was going to be the hottest summer since the 1600's yet it wasnt and that was the one in 7 years its meant to be hotter.
