The shouldnt have made the final no offence to all that like them, they are ok but thats all they are.

i think jls and eoghan were better than alexandra. she should have came 3rd and jls 1st.

What rubbish, Alexandra was the only one who could sing in tune in that final. JLS were alright but they were so boring. Eoghan was never gonna make it, how he got so far, god knows. There was so much better talent than Eoghan and JLS, I dont know how they made it to the final!

Agreed JLS were the best band on the show, probably ever, but I don't think it was sympathy factor that lost them the show.

Just looking at the final voting percentages,

Alexandra Burke 58.34%
JLS 41.66%

tells you she won comfortably in the final.

Don't start this stuff, if anyone was robbed it was Diana, JLS shouldn't have made the final but i guess i'd prefer them there over Eoghan but there is no doubt about it that Alexandra wiped the floor with JLS and Eoghan on that final, but still JLS should have went in Week 8 instead of Ruth

My opinion of JLS as identical to my opinion of Diana - started off loving them, disliked them after a couple of weeks, as the competition progressed I really just wanted them out, but to be honest, they did great on the night of the final, I just think they left it a bit late to actually perform to a good standard. I disagree with the "best group the X Factor's ever had" thing, they were very hit and miss, and the one time they were in the bottom two, they screwed that up, only they were against Rachel who managed to mess it up even more :tongue:. I'm glad they were signed, they deserve it!

you do realize they have COMPLETELY different voices?

Alexandra's voice is a lot lower, a lot stronger, and has a very warm tone to it. Comparable to Toni Braxton.
Leona's voice has a higher range, an annoying vibrato in a few songs, and sounds quite thin and delicate at times. Comparable to Mariah Carey.

Personally I think Alex is better but that's not the issue here.
JLS were fairly hit and miss, out of tune quite a bit [particularly with some of their dodgy harmonies] and overrated, IMO.

You really dislike leona though.

She can sing the low parts of songs and the highest notes she had better range than alex.

and i saw them perform one after the other on the totp christmas special and leona was much better.

She has a wider range. Not necessarily better? Depends what you're into. I find her upper+lower register quite thin personally, not just because I dislike her.

I preferred Alex on TOTP but tbh i don't think it's fair to compare them considering it's like.. Alex's 2nd post-XF live performance everr.

My original point was not to say who's better, but just to explain that vocally, they're almost completely different.

I wouldn't go that far. Diana had loads of chances to shine like she did at the start but she failed she showed the promise she showed in the first show. She was lucky to get as far as she did after she was ill. However saying that, I thought she did well at the end and showed there was more to her in the final weeks than the contemporary style everyone was going on about.

Now here we agree completely, JLS were rubbish compared to Ruth in week 8. Ruth shouldn't have gone that week but she didn't have the support to carry her any further in the competition. Yes, her second song was a little bit too powerful, but her first song was better than the original. JLS really failed to impress that week.

As to the final, I thought JLS raised their game but never really matched the standard set by Alexandra.

Eoghan was just an also ran like Same Difference the year before.

I thought she got it back in the semi final, she was one of the best on the night and she got eliminated over *****ing JLS and Eoghan?! Though i really loved her performance of Patience and Everybody Hurts was a good one too

Yeah i completely agree, JLS were a total let down in Week 8, i thought they were crap in Week 7 too, Ruth deserved to stay over them and Eoghan in Week 8, and that was one of Diana's weakest weeks yet i thought she did miles better than JLS and Eoghan

She was easily better than Eoghan in the semi's. I really though that when she sang Girlfirend she showed she was more versatile and that she could sing in a more conventional style if required to do so. Eoghan should have gone that week and would have done if it wasn't for the whole of Ireland voting to stay week in and week out.

Yeah thats not really fair, they should block the irish vote and the scottish one because that won it for Leon last year, people only voting for someone from where they live and not for talent

I agree, it makes it more or a popularity contest than a talent show. The talent only gets you so far but if you don't have fan a regional base your chances of going far are decreased dramatically.... Just look at Ruth.

JLS should have finished third with Ruth second and Alexandra the winner

I loved Ruth and thought she was really wonderful, but she wasn't a winner of a show like the X-Factor, she was too raw to win a general singing talent show. If it was a show about rock voices she would have walked it, but it wasn't. If she made the top three she would have reached her potential in the show and ended where she deserved to be. However it didn't happen she never had the vote to get that far. Looking back at the final two weeks JLS deserved to come second even if Ruth had been in the final. She would have had to do something really special to unseat them.
