Jessica Mauboy - Burn

xDramatick 05-01-2009 02:02 PM

The lyrics made me burst out laughing, they're awful :\

I don't like the song, and her voice is almost as annoyingly whingey as Rihanna's.
I like the fire bit in the video though.

Jen 05-01-2009 02:04 PM

I paused Damien Rice to listen to this...

MrGaryy 05-01-2009 02:15 PM

I agree with Darenn, the lyrics are horrific.

She has one of the most annoying voices I've ever heard, far worse than Rihanna.

Jessica Mauboy - Burn (This will be BIG in Summer)

It's already been number 1 in Australia (knocking Lady GaGa from the top spot) and will be massive over here when it's finally released. Love this tune so much, which suprised me, as I don't usually like this type of stuff.

Take a listen and see what you think of it...

supernoodles! 19-02-2009 11:54 AM

I don`t see whats special about it ,its very bland

xDramatick 19-02-2009 02:26 PM

It's awful.
Generic, bland R&B nothing. There's nothing about her or the song that makes it stand out or unique. Her voice isn't that great and the lyrics are just. bleh. awful.

There's already a thread about this song because I remember writing the same thing about it then. lol.

Lewis. 19-02-2009 02:28 PM

I like it.

aj2463 19-02-2009 08:30 PM

Its really not that good :bored:

Ross 19-02-2009 08:31 PM

It's okay. Nothing special. I will probaly love it, give me a few weeks.

andybigbro 19-02-2009 08:41 PM

I quite like it, but i dont love it.

MrGaryy 19-02-2009 11:42 PM

The lyrics are vacuous tripe. The beat is rather none existent. Her voice is almost a screechy as a certain other moany tramp.

melanie 20-02-2009 01:33 AM

Not very catchy, no strong vocals, lyrics are repetitive and it's also forgettable. :\

Rory 20-02-2009 02:13 AM

Sounds like all the other female R&B songs. Nothing original.

I’m sorry this is the way I am
I’m crazy just for givin’ you a chance, chance
this will never happen again…"

Sounds like something a child would write.
I agree with all your comments though, just. awful :\

those lyrics, I think, can only be described as, utterly enlightening.

I geuinely hope this song is not successful over here, I don't think my ears could bear to have to listen to that audio bile blared through the airwaves for months.

xDramatick 20-02-2009 08:29 AM

I don't think it will be, songs that are big over here generally have SOME substance? I'm not a fan of Bleeding Love nor Umbrella but both were somewhat meaningful, well written songs?

This... isn't. :|

MrGaryy 20-02-2009 08:32 AM

haha, just had a second listen, the chorus is even worse - "this love is over//so baby just let it burn" - eh, WTF?!

Oh and does anyone else think she bares a resemblance to Raven?

NO way. Songs in UK have substance! You're having a laugh. We have more novelty songs succeed so well in our chart compared to most other countries:

Crazy Frog
Frankee
Chef
Peter Kay
Geraldine
Scooch
Steps
Sclub Juniors
Aqua
Space Dust
Black Eyed Peas - My Humps

and so many, many more.

How many of those were actually good and meaningful songs with strong lyrics? Yet the public lapped them up and most of those got to number 1!!!!!

Back to the song, I dont mind it, It's catchy and would make me want to dnace if I heard it at a club while drinking.

xDramatick 20-02-2009 09:27 AM

I never said all songs in the UK had substance.
I was referring to songs that were HUGE here in recent years. How many of those songs were number #1 for 6/8+ weeks? Also, the majority of those songs were released during times when pop and songs that had no substance was 'cool'.

If this is number #1 here, I've officially lost all respect for the UK Chart.
Not that I have much for it now.

Though to be fair, how many songs spend 6/8 weeks at #1 period?

Oh and you forgot the truly horrid "Baby Cakes", ukturtle.

Arneldo 20-02-2009 01:25 PM

I can't stand Jessica Mauboy, so over-rated. The only reason it done well is because she's an ex-aussie idol contestant. A aussie-idol loser in fact. The song is ****.

Tom4784 20-02-2009 01:29 PM

It's completely boring.

supernoodles! 20-02-2009 01:30 PM

theres something sort of 'desperate wannabe' about her
