enough with the verne comments

anyone else getting fed up of all the verne comments and jokes about his size
he is a person who happens to be small i'm sure people wouldnt be acting that way if they knew someone personally who was like him

30stone 06-01-2009 08:42 PM

I agree with mich, you seem to always be the light of reason.

DamonJ 06-01-2009 08:42 PM

Thank you Michelle!
I agree 100%

AngRemembered 06-01-2009 09:02 PM

Why not?

His size got him in there, and physical chareteristics of other HM's are open to ridicule, and negative comments so why should verne be any different.

Do we have to refrain from mentioning Lucy t*ts too?
If BB are going along with this insistance of turning the show into a live circus act year after year, and the participants willingly allow it, then I for one see no reason why we can't make a joke of them for it.
I would have thought they would have been well aware of that fact when signing up there nice little easy make contracts before the show began.

The problem is is that by calling someone who is small a baby, you're not only offending Verne but others as well. Lucy flaunts her breasts as a living (and has the ability to get them reduced), while Verne doesn't have many options and he is an actor.

It was my opinion to do the right thing to close the thread because, clearly, members were getting offended. If another mod or admin wants to override my decision, they can do so.

Just because he signed up to do the show doesn't give anybody ANY right to nitpick at a factor of him which he cannot help, something which cannot be changed, something he was born with! What, just because he was born small, does that mean he should stay out of the spotlight forever, simply because ignorant people take digs at him for something he was born with?

stacystacy 06-01-2009 09:13 PM

oh lighten up, he has played up to his size all his career, in fact his 1st film role was as a stunt double for a baby !!!. i thought he looked "cute" last night and reminded my of my daughter in her christening gown, thats all

I had'nt realisesd someone had made that comment (the baby one) which is going a little to far.
However does not Verne get his size out in making a living when specialising in small parts, he too has a choice whether or not to flaunt his size as a proffesion.
We make jokes about Terry's accent too, has this now got to stop? They all chose to do this and are all getting paid to do so, let alone the juicy deals waiting for them once they get out, thats what life is like in the public eye and Verne must know it too, its just a pity some of us have'nt caught up yet to the idea.

Stu 06-01-2009 09:20 PM

The ironic thing is Mikey was ripe for the picking last year, because despite having a handicap, he was deemed creepy enough to be subject to slagging.

I can also guarantee you that if an incredibly ugly person went on Big Brother, people would slag them off for something they cant change without a huge amount of time, effort and money. But ugly people are fine, they are allowed get slagged off, becasue being ugly is not a handicap. Even though Verne has quiet clearly stated himself he does not want to be seen as handicap.

Mind you the threads in question were not all that smart to begin with, I suppose. Still, no harm caused. I think we can all chill and stop getting so damn PC towards each other .

There's a line that can be crossed. There's a difference between being offensive and having a bit of a laugh, just the response of forumers to height-related jokes is generally negative, and (to prevent any arguments) should be avoided.

I find it ironic that a member with "It's great being small" in their signature area is making a lot of noise about how "hard" it is to be small.

Contradictions much?

stacystacy 06-01-2009 09:26 PM

no one called him a baby ...you think calling him cute and saying awww isn't inferring that ??
how many 40 yr old men get called cute and aww'ed at ??

lily. 06-01-2009 09:27 PM

stacystacy.. we aren't all over-sensitive drama queens in here. Nice to meet you. Your baby is beautiful. :D

LOL, and the thread about the floozy who made out how hot sleeping with a midget was like the best sex ever..... yeah right I've always wondered why men chat up woman on theier knees in a night club...

How much does Verne gross in one year? yeah lifes a real bitch being 2 ft 8 or to put it another way..

Only $500,000 more than Peter Crouch earns in a year, and he don't get anywhere near the scintalating sex offers LOL

lily. 06-01-2009 09:31 PM

Ah... that reminds me of the old question..

"What would Peter Crouch be if he weren't a footballer?"

A virgin.

Verne makes a pretty good living out of exploiting his size (or lack of it)!

lily. 06-01-2009 09:40 PM

We should do a poll to see if anyone is actually offended by this or if it's just the usual posse..
