Ross.. I'm not guna ask you why you want this, but if it's for a tattoo, then I'd advise you get it authenticated by someone who reads Chinese, cuz there are a lot of people going around with Chinese writing tattooed on them... who think it stands for something, when in actual fact it translates into all manner of ****wittery.

Fom 06-01-2009 10:21 PM

Chinese dont have an alphabet like we do, correct me if im wrong. But they dont have letters as such, they have an alphabet of sounds... and stuff. Thats why they have thousands of characters where as we have 50 something...

Your name could just be one character as there might be a character for the sound 'Ross'

You are correct Fom.

thats what i was just about to write people get chinease writing without actually knowing what it means thats why you should always show the person a picture

but it would be chinease symbols in stead of just normal chinease right?

All will be revealed.

My personal rule of thumb is this.. if you are going to get chinese, arabic or cyrillic symbols then make sure someone checks that it says what it's supposed to cuz yer stuck with that shizzle for life lol

Fom 06-01-2009 10:27 PM

I have loads of Chinese/Cantonese mates that would check mine if I got it done, thing is actors aren't meant to get tattoo's. So I cant... :bawling:

Yeah, my mate's dad got his daughter's name on his shoulder but it actually read 'Egg Fried Rice'.
True story.

my name in chinese 杰西卡

Lauren 09-11-2009 06:19 PM

In Chinese you don't just put the chinese letters together to spell a word. Like if you use R O S S in chinese and put them together it won't actually say Ross... you need to use the phonetics too I think. So if it's for a tattoo don't just do this lol.
