Laptop switched itself off!

Hey, i was on youtube watching a video when my laptop just turned itself off. I tried turning it back on but it won't

I thought it may of been the charger...but i was plugged in, so it couldn't of been. Someone on another site said to hold the power button for 30 seconds - but still won't come back on.

I've left for an hour now incase it was because of over heating...but still nothing. Can anyone help?

Has the battery dislodged?

Does it not turn back on at all when it's overheated?

Is it totally dead? No lights or anything?

and when you plug it in, do any lights come on? (if they do normally) x

You sure it isn't a virus or something?

Its more than likely your hard drive has failed/corrupted, had this before I had a Mac.
And it sounds like the same with me, it suddenly switched off and wouldn't switch on, I had to get it repaired and everything but I lost everything due to the hard drive being completley useless.

Is the battery definately in, and the charger turned on and everything as well?

Maybe the fuse has gone in the plug of the charger *shrugs* Mine turns off when it gets too hot,but it always turns back on.

the machine would still turn on with a faulty hard drive just would not boot.

I work in IT so here is what to do:

It could be one of 3 things

1. The battery may have shorted out, take it out hold the power button for 15 seconds, put the battery back in, if this does not work try powering with no battery plugged in and just on the mains. If that works you need a new battery.

2. Try another charger, if that works buy a new charger.

3. If none of the above works it likely to be a faulty motherboard, if so you need to contact your manufacturer, you need to contact them explain to them what you have tried and tell them its possible a faulty motherboard, if the machine is still in warranty the company should collect it, send it to the repair centre and replace the motherboard free of charge as it should remain functional for the period of your warranty. If out of warranty they will charge you for the repair and collection.
