Everyone is entitled to their own opinions ...

This is just in light of a couple of threads recently, I'm sure you all know what I'm on about.

Without opening another can of worms, its just worth noting that everyone is entitled to their own opinions whether positive, negative, in the minority, heartless etc.

I don't think some people should be slating for others for their thoughts, I mean again I'm sure you'll know what I'm getting at but people on here should just be taken at face value. Its up to you whether you believe them or not and up to you if you want to make that thought known to everyone. I don't think people should be slated for it. Theres no way of knowing 100% for sure if someone is telling the truth or not and theres no guarantees anyone will ever find out. Where hopefully everyone is genuine, its probably very likely that they aren't, but just as likely that they are so its down to you.

But all I'm saying is don't slate others for disagreeing with you no matter how big or small the issue is.

lily. 29-01-2009 01:10 PM

I agree 100% with that Tom.

I do have a controversial opinion, and I certainly don't expect others to agree with it. But, it's unfair to get personal if you don't agree with someone, no matter how sensitive the subject matter is.

NettoSuperstar! 29-01-2009 01:12 PM

Yeh theres no need to get personal unless theyre a racist...then its ok lol!

Wildcat! 29-01-2009 01:13 PM

I must say, that observation ange7 made, on the going away thread, is really interesting.
I think you should go and have a look Linda.

lily. 29-01-2009 01:13 PM

haha... yeah, apart from things like that Netto... :P

pinkmichk 29-01-2009 01:26 PM

i completely agree with you as well

Sod_James 29-01-2009 01:30 PM

I agree somtimes in this forum im put off posting because some people can be so harsh to others just for expressing their opinions.

GhettoSuperstar 29-01-2009 02:23 PM

I whole heartedly agree.

BUT... it must be a valid point or some contribution to a topic.
A few days ago there was a certain topic just which had members just using swear words and 5 year old language digging at a certain celeb, hint - in my sig.

I'm sick of people ruining a topic or attempting to degrade things you like but in childish ways.

Have a point.

Hello?! Ruin the topic? The OP had intended for it to be a thread about how ridiculous she thought it was Hilary Duff had a 2 Greatest Hits. It;s not like people had come into a a Hilary Appreciation thread and started slating her. The only childish reaction was yours.

NettoSuperstar! 29-01-2009 04:03 PM

People should have the right to express their opinions

WITHOUT BEING TREATED LIKE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH :spin2:

End of.

My 2 cents

Captain.Remy 29-01-2009 04:10 PM

The only ones who aren't allowed to express their opinions are pedos and rapers. I wish the death penalty was still there for them.

Apart from that, everyone is allowed to express what they think. So I basically agree with Linda and co.

Spike 29-01-2009 04:45 PM

Completely agree Tom
It amazes me how much hate some members get for having a different or controversial opinion
Everyone is entitled to believe what they want and express it if they want without being treated like they have done something wrong

Tom4784 29-01-2009 05:00 PM

Everyone is entitled to their own opinions... It's just that mine is always right!

I do agree with that though although I am guilty at times of it. We just gotta try and hold our tongues (or fingers?) more.

30stone 29-01-2009 05:10 PM

Nobody is entitled to an opinion. (=

My forum, Mine. :wavey:

And I elaborated the situation more and had a proper discussion. You can't really find fault with that unless you are jealous that I can say more than "**** **** **** ****". Yuh huh.

E.g. I could quite easily make a topic about lets say... Big Brother and go "ZOMG ITS ****, ****, ****. What a load of crap". That ain't what I call a proper, well rounded, worthy and dignified opinion.

Tom 29-01-2009 05:23 PM

I agree, didn't include that though. A lot of opinions in the thread in question were well backed up yet still people wouldn't respect their opinion ...

I'm quite shocked that you have this viewpoint Tom. Please don't take that the wrong way, but a lot of the people who weren't respecting others opinions were people I thought were your friends, so I suppose I expected you to take the same viewpoint out of loyalty.

Sorry for pre-judging you.

Edit to add: AMA, I did see the observation ange7 made, and I concur.

Wildcat! 29-01-2009 06:26 PM

I am glad you did! I have had bust ups with Angie, telling her I dont think she is legit, then her daughter came along and mouthed off at me, and got support from others. SO I just let it go!

I make up my own mind, I don't care what others think, even less so on the internet

Fom 29-01-2009 07:10 PM

I agree Tom, everyone does. But sometimes I think its nice for some opinions to be kept to themselves, there is being opinionated and then being rude.
If you disagree then fine, but I have been brought up that way, treat people the way I would like to be treated, i tell the truth and the right opinion when it matters, but when the opinion is just to cause some chaos and hurt someone's feelings. Then thats when it should just be kept to yourself.

Its how I was brought up, thats why I disagree so strongly. I hope you respect my opinion on this, like you want to be respected on your opinions.
