Hundreds march in support of Jade Goody
HUNDREDS took to the streets of Loughton to show their support for Jade Goody.

Friends and well-wishers marched for an hour from Jade's beauty salon in Station Road, along High Road, to The Academy in Langston Road on Saturday afternoon (Feb 28).

Many wore tee shirts printed with photographs of Jade and messages of support for the 27-year-old mum-of-two who is dying of cancer.

They finished with prayer penned by organisers Jerri Lee, 24, Danielle Holland, 30, and Jane Collins, 42, before releasing 500 balloons into the air.

Jane, from South Woodford, said: "It was beautiful. It brought a lot of people together and helped increase awareness of the need for cancer screenings.

"It started off as a small idea on Facebook, but we soon realised we would have to tell the police and newspapers when we has such an overwhelming response to it."

The event, which raised thousands of pounds for Jade and her sons Bobby, five, and Freddie, four, has been criticised by some Guardian readers who feel the reality-TV star has received support not available to other suffers of the disease.

Jane said: "People are entitled to their views and we take on board what they are saying.

"We realise Jade has had opportunities and made money from avenues that are not available to other families.

"But Jade herself has come from nothing, and has always retained her innocence, and we feel that if we can use her situation to improve cancer-screening rates then that can only be a good thing."

Upshire-resident Jade, who was admitted to a hospice and underwent operation to remove a blockage her bowel over the weekend, is said to have been "touched" with the support she has received from the community.

I don't like how people say it's unfair she's received facilities not available to other cancer patients.

It's true, because she has money. But what is she meant to do? Deny herself pain relief, treatment, and a nest egg - just so she can suffer like the rest of cancer victims?

Jade who?

Brekkie 02-03-2009 01:10 PM

If she had any shred of dignity she would donate all money raised to a cancer charity. But as we all know, she's sold her dignity to OK! magazine and her soul to the devil - a.k.a. Max Clifford!

I don't think she's really benefitting from the money herself, is she? I know that if most people were in her position and got a lump sum of money - they'd keep it for their own kids. Protect your own.

I think I read somewhere that she has setup a trust fund for the two boys and that is where her money is going. I could be wrong though and she could have changed her mind since getting married.

Good hope so

I don't think anyone does. He is a underhand nasty sort of character. Shame that in the years to come his name is always going to associated with being married to Jade Goody.

andyman 02-03-2009 02:19 PM

Ahhh but we will never remember her as Jade Tweed, even now she is still Jade Goody.
I have a feeling even after Jade dies things will still be in the papers, maybe Jack falls out with the mother over money..

I think you are right and it's going to run and run for years as he lives off her fame.

Jack could be back in prison if found guilty in the cabbie case.. I doubt the public will want to see Jack Tweed on the box, but then thats when Mr Max steps in..

And quickly too, she dumped him in less than a year ago because of his cheating ways.

Brekkie 02-03-2009 03:11 PM

Considering they're married you'd have thought he would have moved in (and thus solved the tagging issue!).

Dom:D 02-03-2009 03:12 PM

Aww that's nice.
It's great that she is making a trust fund for her kids!

Tom 02-03-2009 06:01 PM

I suppose its nice but there are some things I'm not so keen on.

It was set up by some hospice that survives purely on donations. But in this walk, those who did it paid a fiver for a balloon or something and that is going to Jade's kids. The hospice that set it up got a substantially lower amount of donations this weekend which I find quite sad. Perhaps those who paid money for the balloons need to look at a little perspective.

If after £700k to take part in a sham marriage Jade can't give the procedes of this to a cancer charity (500 people, £5 each - it's only £2,500) - well, she's even lower than I thought.

£2500 is nothing to Jade- its a hell of a lot more to hospices and other similar things who run purely off donations. sometimes its the difference between staying open and closing.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity for some weapons testing!

Poor buggers are just bored and don't actually have a personal life worth mentioning so they're brainwashed by glossy mag ads.
