How will Big Brother handle Jade\'s death?

Do you think they'll put something on the site / do a few interviews for the news channels?

Or will they decline to comment till launch night in June?

Post-pone the launch till Jade is out of the public's consciousness?

Or maybe totally ignore it and carry on without mention?

arista 22-03-2009 07:15 AM

No they can say some words at the first show.
But , even, Jade
would not want any new show held up.

They can not ignore her
Endemol created her, in the TV sense.

Phil Edgar-Jones has already spoken to Channel 4 News:

I suppose a few members of production staff will comment to news sources.

However, I don't think the show itself will be affected by Jade's death. I expect that they'll dedicate an episode to her, but nothing else.

I expect they will just have a little Memorial slide at the end of the first show really. until then, they do not have to answer anything? She was not involved with Big Brother after she found out about cancer, so they cannot really answer anything

What does Jade's death have to do with Big Brother, to delay it in any way?

:yuk:

Brekkie 22-03-2009 09:48 AM

Thankfully her dying now means the difficult question of how to deal with it should it happen while the show is airing can now be avoided.

IMO it should simply be ignored - the premise of Big Brother for many years was to never mention housemates from previous years. Why should it be any different because she's dead?

And after all, Jade Goody is largely responsible for the crew of Big Brother facing the prospects of losing their jobs at the end of this series - the show has never been able to fully recover from her actions back in 2007.

Seriously, WTF?!!! 200 people are losing their jobs because of Jade? If it was because of Celebrity Big Brother 5, it would have ended right after that, then Jade may have been responsible. I don't watch Big Brother anymore, but that isn't because of Jade, Jo or Danielle's actions - it's because the show itself has grown old. Big Brother 3 would have a wider appeal than Big Brother 8 or 9, it's what happens. Show's grow old and viewers move on. 7 Million people aren't going to watch the same show every year. Personally, I don't find the same entertainment I did in it 5 years ago.

It's actually hard to read that you blame a show that's tanking on a woman who's just died. Ask the many people on these forums who don't watch the show anymore, and you'll see that your theory is absolutely unfair and wrong. Do you really take a Reality TV show so seriously?

I think BB will do a little slide show of pictures on launch night at the beginning or end. I dont think they will delay the show at all. I dont know why they should do that. Its not relevant at all anymore.

JOSHUAH! 22-03-2009 11:33 AM

I think Davina may be on This Morning, GMTV.

Also I think when BB10 launches they may have a little video clip, afterall Jade owes her celebrity status to Big Brother.

jade has nothing to do with that, and the show is not ending at the end of this series, pure and simply for the fact it is still Channel 4's main show, most people think Channel 4 = Big Brother, they won't axe a show that is still very successful.

Brekkie 22-03-2009 11:43 AM

It isn't still very successful though.

Don't forget Jade was actually banned from appearing on any Big Brother programmes following her eviction in CBB5.

Now she's dead I see no reason for the show to celebrate her contribution to it in anyway considering her latter contribution was a key factor in the downfall of the show in the last couple of years.

Let's be honest though - with fans and critics alike the show is still in a no-win situation. Ignore her and it'll be disrespectful. Mention it and it'll be exploiting the situation for ratings.

IMO the best way for C4 to deal with it is not to rush out a tribute programme, or to exploit it around the launch of Big Brother, but to simply choose an appropriate episode from BB3 and repeat it.

its channel 4's most successful show, everywhere talks about it, its in all the papers, there are tonnes of fan sites based on it, sounds pretty successful to me.

It is in a way, but it is becoming more and more repetitive. I still don't believe it'll be axed after this series - for financial reasons rather than popularity - but I wouldn't be surprised if it was.

Also, I don't agree that the race row is solely to blame for Big Brother's misfortune, but there's no doubt it plays a large part.

supernoodles! 23-03-2009 08:38 PM

id like to see them dedicate an episode to her ,i think that would be appropriate.Jade made bb what it is,she was not responsible for its downfall.

*mazedsalv** 23-03-2009 08:39 PM

I read that they will do a tribute on launch show, it was posted here yesterday.

They most probably will dedicate an episode to her (the launch maybe) but the race row did wreck BB, whether it was Jade or partly Jade is up for debate.

30stone 24-03-2009 01:36 AM

They wont just dedicate an episode to her.

They may not show it every night, but i think launch night they will dedicate the series to her.

Brekkie 25-03-2009 12:30 PM

Proof that even with death tabloid hacks will still make stuff up - C4 confirm today they've no intention of showing any tribute to Jade during the series.

Channel 4 is planning no tributes to the late Big Brother star Jade Goody in the tenth anniversary year of the reality show.

C4 head of programmes Julian Bellamy confirmed today that despite being the channel that launched Goody's media career, there would be "nothing specific" to mark her passing in his schedules this year.
