Where were you when the 9/11 events happened?

Where were you and what were you doing when you found out about the 9/11 terror attacks?

Harry! 28-03-2009 10:48 AM

At home watching the news.

bronaaaa 28-03-2009 10:49 AM

School, I came home and mum and dad called me in to the living room and it was aloo over the news.
I remember we had to say I prayer in class but I can't remember if that was the day it happened or the next

Tom 28-03-2009 10:49 AM

At school, teacher said there have been a few plane crashes but didn't really have any idea ... that was about 10 minutes before we went home then got home and the news was on

I had fishfingers and chips for tea that night :cheer2:

lily. 28-03-2009 10:51 AM

It's weird how you remember silly details like that isn't it?

Brad* 28-03-2009 10:51 AM

I was only 5 years old LOL, I remember it well. I was watching a James and the Giant Peach video and my mum came running in (at about 5pm) and said that the Twin Towers had collapsed and that thousands of people would have died. At the time I really didn't know what that meant, so I wasn't particularly concerned.

I was at working at a stockbrokers, in the front office.... the markets when mad

It was so strange watching the markets fall and then people started to buy on the back of such a tragic time.

We had loads of people contact us the next day to try and cancel their deals because they felt bad making money from the situation

lily. 28-03-2009 10:54 AM

It was surreal watching it on tv I think. There was a sense of 'this isn't happening'.

Marsh. 28-03-2009 10:54 AM

I was 10 at the time or 9, not sure now. I was having tea when it came on the news.

Princess 28-03-2009 10:55 AM

It was my brother's birthday and I remember coming home from school being all excited about going out for dinner. My parent's tried to explain what had happened and how it would be disrespectful to go out,I didn't really understand it.

Nicky. 28-03-2009 10:55 AM

School, I don't remember it to be honest, I didn't realise how big it was..

Yep, it is weird how you can remember daft details

And there was a real sense of 'this isn't happening' when BBC News announced that one of the towers had collapsed when it was still standing on the screen behind them :joker:

... but nout to laugh about when it did eventually collapse ... anyone would think it was a conspiracy :whistle:

Hugo 28-03-2009 10:56 AM

School. My mum was talking about it to my sister in the car on the way home and I thought they were talking about a TV show or something :/
Then we got home and saw the news. :o

lily. 28-03-2009 10:57 AM

I must admit, I love the 9/11 conspiracies, and some of them are very plausible.

Ninastar 28-03-2009 10:57 AM

I was at school in america. I remember so much about it.
I remember that about 30 people were told to pack their packs for early dismissal ( They used to have an intercom in ever single room and hallway in my school ) so yeh. I didnt actually feel good that day so I asked the teacher if I could go to the nurse. She let me go and when I was in the office I saw loads of parents like waiting to get thier child home. Then when my dad came to pick me up he told me something really bad had happened but I had to wait untill i was in the car to be told it cause there were kids around.

So yeh thats it really x

Oh yeh. The school got closed so everyone went home early x

MarkWaldorf 28-03-2009 10:58 AM

I don't remember the day it happened, but I remember I was at my nans the next morning (she used to take me, my sister and cousin to school) and I watched the coverage on GMTV.

Firewire 28-03-2009 11:02 AM

There is a new building in construction on the site of where the Twin Towers collapsed in 2001. It is called the Freedom Tower and it is supposedly going to be completed in 2013. It is going to have 108 floors, with a top floor height of 415m (1,362ft), a roof height of 417m (1,368ft) and a full height (including spire) of 541.3m (1,776ft). This is quite a similar height to the Twin Towers (I am pretty sure it is bigger than the Twin Towers actually). I think this will just be another target for terrorists (if they did 9/11 at all). The exact same thing could happen again, aeroplanes could easily hit that and kill thousands of people.

Yeah, I love them too. I still watch all of the documentaries on YouTube to this day (even though some of them are a couple of hours long).:blush2:

I believe it was the American government that did it, I don't have the time to go into why because it would take me hours.

Sam! 28-03-2009 11:13 AM

Also theres two huge memorial waterfalls in the place of the towers:

http://www.national911memorial.org/i...al/aerial1.jpg
THE MEMORIAL will remember and honor the nearly three thousand people who died in the horrific attacks of February 26, 1993, and September 11, 2001. The Memorial will consist of two massive pools set within the footprints of the Twin Towers with the largest manmade waterfalls in the country cascading down their sides. They will be a powerful reminder of the Twin Towers and of the unprecedented loss of life from an attack on our soil.

The names of the nearly 3,000 individuals who were killed in the September 11 attacks in New York City, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon, and the February 1993 World Trade Center bombing will be inscribed around the edges of the Memorial pools.

The Memorial pools will each be nearly one acre in size. The names of the victims will be inscribed on parapets surrounding the pools, within groupings that will allow for family members, friends, and co-workers who shared life’s journey and perished together to have their names listed side by side.

An eight-acre landscaped Memorial Plaza filled with nearly 400 trees will create a contemplative space separate from the sights and sounds of the surrounding city.

I love watching the documentaires but they scare the sh*t out of me..there's a blog thig on bebo about the plane number if you type it in to word and change the font to windings its like two towers and all *shudders*, and the dates add up of 9/11 etc.

lily. 28-03-2009 11:14 AM

Yeah, that's fake, cuz it's not the real plane number.

There's a lot of fake info out there but a lot of accurate stuff too.

30stone 28-03-2009 11:19 AM
