PLEASE help.
 

I recently wiped my computer, and thought my iPod would backup all of my music, so I didn't back up any of it on a hard drive etc. But after wiping, I was only to find that you CAN'T get music from your iPod back into your iTunes library. Has anyone ever been able to do this? :hug: x x

Firstly make sure you alter the itunes settings and uncheck the auto-sync option, otherwise the next time you connect all of your music on your ipod will be erased aswell. Im not sure how to get your music back on your pc though il have a look.

Oh Poo. Unlucky. I have not a clue. Bet it is a nightmare :O Could you not do a restore thing?

here you go :

1. Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.

2. In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.

3. In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."

4. Navigate to the Music folder (your ipod).

5. Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.

Oh and MR.K! that didnt work for me as there was no 'Portable Media Devices' shortcut in my Control Panel. But hey I just spent the last 3 hours trying recover my entire music collection, why stop now....

This happened to me a few months ago, I downloaded some software that did it all for me though.

I tried that earlier and it said it had a limit of 100 songs.
&I bet it doesn't back up iTunes purchases either. :nono:

I can't remember the one I used! It was free and didn't have a limit.
It was called 'i....' something.

try this one :

Plug in your iPod.

From the Desktop, go to My Computer and find the iPod (usually designated by a drive letter. i e. E: or F:)

Open the damn thing.

Go to Tools > Folder Options > View (the tab) > scroll to Show Hidden Files and Folders and click it.

Click OK

Go back to your iPod folder/drive, there you will find a new folder called iPod_Control

Open it.

The Music folder in it will have a bunch of folders named F00, F01 and so on. THEY HAVE YOUR MP3s.

Look through the folders to find your stuff.
