I'm dreading ringing up! I can't wait to go - but we have to ring up and ask questions!

What on earth do I say? Hello! I'm Nicky, and I'm doing my work experience with you! Can I ask some questions?

I will sound like a right numpty!!

Ummm..just be like "what time will I be starting at?", "what responsibilities will I have?", "what is the dress code?"
Stuff like that?

You should have a layout of what your going to say, write down what questions you want to ask and go over them a couple of times and make sure that they're relevant. Be polite and courteous when you ring and just take your time, i'm sure you'll be fine!!

one of the things of doing work experience is that you have to speak to your employer and customers and stuff

You should have done yours at a school. I didn't have to ring up or nothing, just turn up on the day.

I sound weird on the phone :sad:

and I talk way to fast - this is gonna be a task and a half!!

I have a list of questions, from school.. then we have to show our tutors the answers to show we rang!

I like talking to people in person better! That's for sure!

The only people who are allowed to do it in our school are the naughty ones that aren't trusted anywhere else xD

Say something along these lines; usually works for me :

'' hi im Nicky [surname] I will be doing my work experience with you. I was just wondering if i could make some inquiries about my duties and what im required to do on the day, if its not too much trouble. Thank you''

then ask your questions

They weren't on lunch, he was with a customer.. and it was about 10 past 12, so I will ring at about 1.20.. because lunch might be like quarter past till quarter past :3

I rang back, and I asked for the man, and I heard him go 'It's that Nicky again' and I heard someone reply 'Oh right, tell her I'm busy and get her number'

At least they didn't swear.. while I was on the phone! Tehehehe!

I gave them my dads home number.. and I'm only here till this evening, then I'm at mums till Monday! I like being awkward too!

One good thing, I don't think I will have to go down the 'Well hello there, one goes by the name of Nicola and one was wondering if it was a convenient hour of the day to enquire about the prospects of the job'... somehow...
