Do you think Endermol could run a welk stall ?

See Has BB3 gone pear shaped for further discussion.

So Endermol have turned Jade into a gibbering wreck and given her phychological problems

Well done!

BTW where can I buy Endemol welks, or would that not be a good idea ?

jbellemeg 31-05-2002 08:48 PM

Stick's you fogrot one other point.
I think it was either Saturday or Sunday afternoon when we had the pleasure of looking at Sunita's face for almost an hour when there were technical problems.
But no word of apology as far as I remember.
Let's hope there arn't any more problems.
As for the sound it does my head in when they block the sound out without them losing it altogether.
Fingers crossed all will be well now.

If they did it would likely be a very profitable stall.

Endemol had a turnover last year of over half a billion pounds.

Oh come on, admit it... this is EXACTLY the sort of thing we all watch Big Brother for.

I DON'T !!!!!

I want to see Peace, harmony and co-operation

(I noticed that one of the presenters of RI:SE said he wanted to see death on Reality TV Yuck):mad:

LEE 01-06-2002 10:04 AM

And I don't either Disco.

disco 01-06-2002 11:09 AM

Hmm. I know I watch it for the bredth of human emotions... happiness, sadness, love, hate, jealousy, lust and so on. I watch for the laughter, fun and games, arguments and to see the way people from different age, gender, ethnic and social class groups react to each other whilst living a restricted lifestyle in a confined space.

Jade crying was extremely powerful. It showed a wide range of emotions... shock and perhaps anger and a feeling of betrayal at the producers; sadness at the thought she might have left the house; sadness and even a tinge of guilt that Lynne was leaving. She will have been upset that the public saw fit to nominate her in the first place and extremely touched that the housemates chose her over Lynne.

In the false and somewhat cold world that Big Brother is (especially with the likes of Sandy and Lynne in the house), I found it comforting that someone was able to display these emotions. Equally comforting was the way the housemates came to comfort her.

Glitter_babe 01-06-2002 11:16 AM

Hmmmm. Watching all those emotions is part of the appeal. i'm nbot saying I'm happy she was crying, but i felt for her - you kind of go through thecontestants emotions with them sometimes.

Can I ask a question?? (i'm going to anyway!)

When the sound on BB 'Live' goes off, and they show pictuires of the chicken coop for 30 minutes, what exactly are 'the legal reasons' they have to do this? ??
:conf:
Because I'm confused. Surely with BB 'Live' you should be watching that - live action. It's annoying!

disco 01-06-2002 11:32 AM

It's so C4/E4 can cover themselves for libel. When the housemates start saying things about people or businesses on the outside, it's impossible for C4 to verify what they are saying, thus they censor it. If they didn't and one of the housemates claimed Tesco's was rubbish, for example, Tesco could sue C4 as they broadcast the libellous comments.

The 'live' coverage is actually elapsed about 20 minutes to allow this editing. The cynical amongst you could argue it also gives the producers the opportunity to edit the coverage to portray the housemates in a certain way.

They explained this on E4 interactive a few days a go. I think that they have received quite a few complaining e-mails.

As well as libel they have to sometimes drop the sound when the housemates talk about other people. They have to protect the privacy of people not on the show.

Someone might say something that leaves them or Channel 4 in contempt of court.

They have to comply with broadcasting regulations on language and decency.

I think they're also copyright issues which is maybe one of the reasons for this year's ban on musical instruments. When Dean played Oasis songs last year Endemol would have had to get to clearance from the band to show it on TV.

There's not much the producers can do to get round all this. It's more the fault of the broadcasting standards people not allowing us to see or hear certain things during the day.

Pear Shaped Bb3!

Hi'ya,
I totally agree with you, I say that Bb3 will never be as good as Bb2! and that is a fact!

I think that Bb3 is become way tooo stupid.
They drink too much Grog at night, and don't do much in the day! I think this should be the last one!
Do You???????????

Sticks 02-06-2002 05:38 PM

Originally BB2 was going to be tha last one, according to a member of the company on a daytime tv show before BB2 started

I wonder why they changed their minds ?? :nono::mad:

Mad Matty 02-06-2002 05:41 PM

Money....

Just my guess is they wanted to squeeze BB3 for all the £'s they could get out of it.

Oldgit 02-06-2002 05:44 PM

I know why they changed their minds, Sticks, it's called money.

The trouble with running Whelk stalls is that you make a profit by selling more whelks, not necessarily better whelks.

And aren't they coining it in? You have to pay for online cameras, and I can imagine the parents of teenage girls who are having text messages sent to their mobiles at 25p a go.

I actually think it is disgusting that you can send a single text, then be charged by the number of replies that you have no control over. If that is not ripping kids off, what is? And who ends up paying?

Grrrrrr.......!!!!!!!

Sticks 19-06-2004 10:47 PM

Just ressurecting this thread to show that I was on at the way Big Brother has consistantly been mishandled.

I would say it has been mishandled since BB1
