Santa Claus

I was talking to my friend earlier and he said that his mum told him Santa was not real from the age of 3, becase it cost her too much. What do you think of this? I have mixed views really. I Will post them after hearing some of yours

Iceman 28-05-2009 06:25 PM

I think it's May

Harry! 28-05-2009 06:28 PM

Teach children to tell the truth and u'll be lieing to her her own life?

Annie 28-05-2009 06:32 PM

I think its a shame that parents lie to their children and its lasted for generations. When is it going to stop? The lies need to stop!!

Lewis. 28-05-2009 06:32 PM

This isn't a dbate about whether santa is real. Pmsl. it is a debate about whether his mum should have told him at such a young age

pinkmichk 28-05-2009 06:33 PM

its all a part of the magic telling kids he is real while they are still young enough to enjoy that part of it does not forge a liar in the future

Oh. You should tell them when they hit there teenage years, They will understand better.

Iceman 28-05-2009 06:36 PM

Could we not have this debate in like 5-6 months time when it's relevant?

Deirdre 28-05-2009 06:37 PM

I kinda figured it out when I was 7.
But I do understand a lot of people who don't do the whole "Santa" thing because they either can't afford it or they don't like "lying" to their children.

CiaraD 28-05-2009 06:46 PM

My mum or Dad didn't tell me I just grew out of it when I was about 11.
Tbh, I'd be gutted if I found out he wasn't real when I was wee, but It's up to the parents I think if they can afford it and stuff.

Indierock&roll 28-05-2009 07:05 PM

i sort of guessed by the time i was like 6 anyway , my mum and dad still put "from santa" on the presents though
i wish santa was real though :spin2:

I don't understand what you mean so they dont give presents at christmas at all then?

Because if they still do it defeats the objects of saying you can't afford it.

MrGaryy 28-05-2009 08:23 PM

I officially found out when i was 10 which I think was a good age to have it end at.

bluehill 28-05-2009 08:27 PM

i was like in year 5 -6 but i was still unsure but i was offically sure in yr7
'''cos i was all grown up lol''' but yer a bit of me still wants to belive there is a santa

Twilight 28-05-2009 09:46 PM

My mum or Dad didn't tell me i just figured it out when i was 8 and i saw mom buying Christmas presents lol. But i don't really think its a good thing to lie to kids, and i don't like the fact that it sort of makes the mum and dad not appreciated and i don't see the magically part of a fat guy in red coming down the chimney lol.
