Courtney and David signing on to Scream 4?
 
Courteney Cox Arquette and David Arquette are reportedly in discussions to return to the Scream series.

According to Entertainment Weekly, original writer Kevin Williamson has approached the pair to star in a Scream reboot, scheduled to film this autumn. Williamson is hoping that the horror movie will revitalise the franchise, leading to a new trilogy.

Several characters from the original Scream films are expected to return, though it is unclear if Neve Campbell's Sidney Prescott will be back.

Former Friends star Cox Arquette portrayed reporter Gale Weathers in Wes Craven's self-referential horror movies, while her husband Arquette played police officer Dwight 'Dewey' Riley.

Cox Arquette's TV schedule may prove a stumbling block, however, as her ABC pilot Cougar Town has been picked up for series.

Rumours first emerged about a new Scream at the start of the year, with director Craven later hinting that he may return to helm a fourth instalment.

I hope this is true. Scream without Gale and Dewey just won't seem right. Not too bothered about Neve, she's very replacable.

I'll be surprised if anything comes out of it. Rumours of a new scream have been around for years. I'm personally not for it, Scream 3 was only decent and it finished the story.

If they take care with it and provide a good story to it, then why not. However nkowing Hollywood it'll probably be awful.

Would love another Scream movie as they were really scary!! I doubt it'll happen though the genre has moved on and the type of horror scream produces is mediocre in comparison to the excessive blood guts and general gore required to make the modern audiences of today wince.
