TiBB Member(s) of the Month
 

This could be a great feature to add to the forum, to get more people to post actual debates, to post nice things etc.

You could have a forum member that is member of the month for each section, so...

"Big Brother" (while it's on)
"Other Television"
"General Chat"
"Serious Debates"
"Chat and Games"
"Music/Films/Sport"
"General Interests"
"Suggestions/Help + New additions"

You don't have to have all of those catergories... but I think they are the main ones that members could actually contribute alot too... for example... Chat and Games... a member could keep people entertained by doing mini games etc, so therefore the admins/mods whatever you want, can decide which member deserves the Member of the Month award.

Maybe the winning members, for that month can have an icon through that month then when it changes, swap it over. Or, you could just keep a little of the members who won members of the month and under what catergory.

Example:

The Member(s) of the month are...

Big Brother - Julian

Other Television - Henry

General Chat - Jon Claude

Serious Debates - Lopez

Chat and Games - Pix

Music/Films/Sport - Shanaynay

General Interests - Pauline

Suggestions/Help + New additions - Bert


Obviously like I said it doesn't have to be all of them catergories you could have just 3 that covers them all like "Reality", "General", "Suggestions".

I think this will be good and just post it in the Announcements section at the end of the month... then atleast the Announcements section can be used for something else too. It's not alot of work for you admins/mods as you will see through the month who has made good threads/post and which members deserves the titles. Maybe Mark or James can make the thread, or a Moderator.

Just a suggestion. I think it'll work well and will give the forum a better atmosphere because people will improve (maybe) to start actually posting less abusive threads and more chat worthy, debatable threads.

I just think it's something the forum needs. It's fresh.

Music and Sport should be split i think, cause it could cause sparks lol.

But yeah other than that is a great idea Ross.

How would you decide who is member of the month? Not everyone would agree, and it would possibly lead to arguments about favouritism. Plus people used to spam so much just to get top poster of the day; it wasn't a good thing.

The admins decide, I said that in OP.

So then you're expecting the admins to pick a member of the month for specific sections of the forum - they're not always around and that's a massive expectation of them, the only way you could even begin to do it fairly would be to put it down to the whole forum to decide; and that would end in squabbling and wouldn't work.

No my idea is the admins/moderators decide. If it boiled down to the forum voting, I'd have said that but I don't like that idea.

I think the admins and mods can handle it ONCE a month.

Its a great idea but just needs changing a bit thats all.

What you're suggesting is that the admins and mods choose a member of the month for particular sections of the forum, right? They are therefore, in the interest of fairness, expected to make a decision based on the quality of posting by one particular user over the course of each month. They are therefore expected to be monitoring as much as they possibly can over each month, with the thought in mind of 'this is a good post, I must remember this in 30 days time when I choose member of the month'. It just wouldn't work like that.

Like I said, things need tweaking and when/if an admin reads this... then they can decide that, I'm only putting the idea forward, if you don't like it fair enough but you're neither an admin or a mod so you can't really say what they can or won't be able to do. :thumbs:

Yeah, but I'm an average human being with so many hours in the day available, and I just don't think anybody could realistically be expected to be constantly thinking of who to make member of the month for each forum - we have the TiBB nominations in Chat and Games, just look at the variety of opinion in that, people would be constantly complaining that they've never been member of the month and, as I said earlier, people spammed to get to be Top Poster of the Day, think of the spamming that would occur with this.

I don't dislike the idea, I just don't think it would work in any way.

Member of the week was very succesful.......

Good idea but would turn into yet another popularity contest rather than results being what they should be

potenially could be a good idea but from being a mod elsewhere myself there is already so much they do behind the scenes that you dont know about plus working that round whatever they doing in real life i'm not sure if it doable from that point
