Help

I've gotta do some college work at home because I'm not gonna have any time to finish it off in college, and if I do it before tomorrow morning then I get off an hour early on wednesday. Anyway, I basically need a film that has an action packed opening 5 minutes. It needs to contain:

Music
Various camera shots
Characters
And graphics.

Also, what does 'Narrative- linear, non-linear' mean?
[List a few please, I'll need to have seen the film before aswell so I have more to talk about]

Don't make me root through my DVD's :nono:

And I would have posted this on IMDb but I think my tutor goes on there so I couldn't risk it.

Ermmm maybe a bit sad but romeo and juliet has a lot of action in the first 5 mins.

edit: It kinda makes the hair on the back of you neck stand on end cause of the music and everything

Linear is a narrative structure that's simple really. A linear narrative consists of three acts and has a clear beginning, middle and end. Non linear narratives are stories told out of order or something that uses a lot of flashbacks. A good example of this is Kill Bill volume 1 since the film starts at the half way point of the narrative and spends the rest of the film showing the viewer how she reached that point as well as using flashbacks to introduce and develop characters.

I hope that helped.

I can't really think of many films at this moment that starts off with a big action sequence. If I was you though I'd look into war films like Saving Private Ryan.

So if a film started by a showing a scene that happens near the end of the film that would be non-linear?

I think you could argue that point yes. If the example film started off like that, the rest of the film would be set in the past and would show the audience how the character got to that point while linear narrative tends to stay in the same time period (but not always, for example films with flashback sequences may not be considered non-linear).
