Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars coming to the PSP

Rockstar Games has announced that it is working on a PSP version of DS game Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars.

The publisher's Leeds-based team is working with Rockstar North on the title, with a view to releasing it in Europe and the US this autumn.

Development will particularly focus on utilising the PSP's widescreen graphics, enhanced lighting and animation power, while new story missions will also be introduced.

"We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSPgo," said Rockstar founder Sam Houser.

"Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."

That's rather lazy I think, the game's brilliant but I think the style of it and such are wasted on the PSP. Brilliant game on the DS but I think the wow factor will be lost on the psp.

With what i have seen of it on the DS it looks pants! The two GTA's on PSP are still good, if they change it to a normal looking GTA then might be ok.

It's a brilliant game, technically it's more normal then any real 3D game since it's sort of similar to the original games  (but 10X better).

Easily one of the best NDS games. I would like the PSP version to have it's own spin on it though instead of it being a straight port.

Like the other two GTA games on PSP is how it should be, with more depth to the gameplay, crisp graphics and many extras..

To me the DS have gimmick games, the PSP is more about the games on a main console in the palm of your hands..

People have wanted GTA San Andreas on the PSP, if such a thing can be done.

That dog game on the DS is ok, can blow bubbles :blush2:

The DS is a very misunderstood console, it does have a fairly large casual gimmick audience but many of the good games gets ignored, I think it has more good games then the PSP which always seems to be a bit desolate on new releases.

Saying that I do agree about your point about the PSP being like a proper console in your hands, it's one of it's strengths. When it has a good game it really knocks the ball outta the park, but I feel the DS is more consistent. I love both though.

I would like the PSP Chinatown to be a proper 3D game though, a port would waste the PSP's capabilities.

A straight port would be nasty, plus it would feel like a step back for the PSP, but gotta trust Rockstar..

Bully on the PSP would be good as the main game map was small, plus it would work on the DS.

Thing about the DS is that it has games for everybody of all ages, just wish the screen was bigger but the DSlite was the winner, old DS looks huge with a poor screen.

If the graphics was downgraded a little I reckon Bully could fit on a Ds cart. Look at the DS Kingdom hearts, the graphics are downgraded for the Ps2 games but it's still quite close to them.

I'd like a port of Bully, I borrowed it off a friend for the ps2 when it came out and thought it was fun. I must get it for the xbox when it's up and runnning again.

I never had an original DS but they were hideous. the DS lite is brilliant but the DSi's suck.

A fun fact about Chinatown wars is that the city is exactly the same as the GTA4 city. Nothing's been taken out. If it's a port of the DS version I expect the PSP to have one hell of a paintjob, even if it's from a bird's eye view I expect voiceovers and better graphics.

andyman 23-06-2009 01:45 AM

No bird's eye view.. :yuk: but will have to be with it being a port.

They should make a PSP with 3G mobile tech, play online anywhere, video calling using skype anywhere, download PSP demo's anywhere, download PS3 game/gameplay video's anywhere..
:spin2:

Wifi is ok but 3G is everywhere and the PSP should come with a phone sim card slot..
