sree is brent

sree is the indian *more pervy *version of david brent....
This is due to his serious lack of social skills, he stalker way he tries to woo women, the way he nearly does the "brent" look at the camera when he feels hes done something funny/clever....and his danceing......see the famouse david brent dance, watch sree add the brent hum..(mmmmm mmmmm) that hum thing....and it is an indian perv brent, "u like my dance rodrigo"....was a david line....keep him in thou, cringeworthy but u have to watch viewing!

nah almost.
The reason Brent worked as a character was despite him being a a douche bag the audience still had empathy for him.

Not the case with Sree. ie douche bag yes ... empathy no.

That's not true. Viewer empathy for Brent didn't happen until the last 2 episodes (Christmas Special). The reason the Brent character worked is because viewers all knew and had personal experience of a character like Brent in their own working lives.

No I had empathy for Brent from day one. Not sure how your qualified to speak of ALL viewers unless you took a poll or something. Here's the equation
Empathy + his stupid pride = cringe when he failed.
With Sree the equation is
disassociation + his stupid pride = great TV when fails.

"The reason the Brent character worked is because viewers all knew and had personal experience of a character like Brent in their own working lives. "
nah ... lots of characters on TV are taken form our real lives and they don't all necessarily work. There needs to be empathy to get the cringiness and that cringe factor was there from day one.

I misread the title for a second and was about to agree.

This doesn't make sense. Empathy = a positive feeling. Cringiness = a negative feeling.

You are saying that one has to feel a negative feeling in order to feel a positive one.
