Official Press Release: 2nd Eviction Voting Figures

1,405,191 Viewers Vote in the Second Big Brother Eviction

The nation has cast its vote to evict the second Big Brother contestant. Following Lynne’s eviction last week, the second person to leave the Big Brother house will be Alison.

By the time phone lines closed at 8pm this evening, 1,405,191 viewers had cast their vote.

Of the 1,405,191 votes cast, 540,187 (38.44%) voted for Alex, 323,790 (23.04%) voted for Sandy and 541,214 (38.52%) voted for Alison.

Of the total votes cast, 47% (662,165) were made by phone, 29.5% (413,310) were made up of interactive votes and 23.5% (329,716) were made by text.

The housemates seemed shocked by the announcement that it would be Alison leaving the house, but she took the news well “I had a feeling,” she said. Whilst the other housemates hugged her and congratulated Alex and Sandy, Alison went into the bedroom with the other girls to pack her belongings ready for her exit, “I’m so nervous,” she said.

Alison will be leaving the Big Brother House at 10.00pm this evening.

That was INCREDIBLY close!

Did anyone else think it was completely wrong of Davina to announce how close the voting was between Alex and Alison at the start of the programme?

That's never happened before - the voting has been a closely guarded secret until after the eviction was announced. And I don't think it's a good idea at all.

I think it's very interesting to know now how close it was, but it does seem strange to announce it right at the beginning of the programme when people could still vote!

BTW Kaz, congrats on passing the 1000 posts mark :hello:

It was probably orchestrated to get people to vote again when they realised how close 2 of them were, generating more 25p's

You're probably right, avriljayne - I hope they don't try the same trick in future weeks though. I don't think it's fair to announce how the voting's gone until after the lines have closed.

....... and thanks, Janette! Gosh, what a 'blether' I am!
