Lesa\'s Tongue

Nice to see she's keeping it firmly in her cavernous mouth. At last she realises she's lost control of her sheep. I bet she'll now start acting the mature "listening" Les, eager to "understand" Freddie. After all, it's all the desperate Dyke has left, to build on a very fractured relationship with him and hopefull be seen to redeem herself.

Whatever happens, she'll have to declare any earnings from BB or else lose her income support and rent payments.

spitfire 05-07-2009 09:08 PM

I take it you don't like lesbians?

She practically jumped in the air when Noirin was talking to her today! She is desperate for her little plan to phase out the way she wants it to!

I wonder why it is ok to hate on gay girls but not gay men...

If I used the 'fag' on this forum in the same way people use 'dyke' I would be ripped up.

Weird.

You just used the word "Fag"........and nothing happened, so your theory's sort of wrong innit.

I write this while in fact smoking one, so please don't go all batty, boy, some people are so sensitive.

No? I just wouldnt use the word 'dyke' as a compliment, or a comment on her personality, is all.

And Dec, you don't know me or where I come from regarding PC, so back off ok? Thanks.

I didnt use it in a derogatory way did I?

Did you miss the subtly of my post? The fact that I wasnt personally offended about it, just curious?

This forum makes me wonder sometimes.

Actually if your honest, gay men get a much harder time from homophobes, than Gay women do.

So that makes it ok to use being a lesbian an insult?

And please take what I am saying as open questions and not a flame. I'm not ultra PC, I am just interested in why people think the way they do.

I haven't seen any direct insults towards Lisa because she is a Lesbian.

She may be a Lesbian but she is also duplicitious, nasty, two faced, devious, a liar, verbally abusive and has anger management issues. None of those things are neccessarily traits of Lesbians

I agree.

But you don't think the very word 'dyke' as a description of a gay girl itself is an insult..?

In response to your OP.

So I just wonder.

Like I say, I'm not gay, or a girl, so I'm genuinlly not personally insulted. I just wonder why it's different.

No I think the lesbian community has used such words themselves "lipstick dyke" for feminine Lesbians, "bulldykes" for more masculine types. Times have changed, what was once offensive to say, has been stripped of it's offensive value by the very people it's aimed at.

Gay people, just like black people have found strength in their community. Gay people do not have to hide their sexuality for fear of ridicule and oppression anymore.

But those words still have power to be used offensively right?

If I said, as a non gay man, "he is just a desperate fag" about someone, that would be considered offense I guess? You get my point?

I guess you have answered my question now though and people can make up their own minds on your replies.

Thanks for discussing in a calm way though and not resorting to throwing personal insults around.

calyman 05-07-2009 10:42 PM

It's true that homophobes still exist but a homophobes verbal offensiveness is their problem, not the Gay persons.
Incidentally, "Fag" is not even a terribly offensive word, nonce or paedo however are far more offensive.

What is truly offensive is something like that islington Coucil Registrar refusing to perform a Gay wedding because it "was agaainst her religious beliefs". Now that truly is offensive, especially given she won her case against dismissal from the Council.

Yeah, I get that.

For the record, I don't personally think any word is intrinsically racist, or homophobic, or whatever. In my mind, any form of hate is defined by intent, not words. It's all in how any given word is used.

Just so you get where I am coming from.

Btw, Cal, are you gay yourself?
