Analysing the \"Sophie will go\" Argument
The "Sophie will be evicted argument" has been given significantly less attention here than Bunnygate yet I think it is an interesting example of how minor discussions and petty gripes are twisted once they get worked on by Team Nasty.
Since I have just watched the argument on the highlights show early this morning I thought I would offer an analysis of exactly what happened and the lessons we can learn from it. The origin of the argument was as follows: Marcus and Kris were discussing who might be evicted and in what way the public might perceive the various Housemates. Marcus has always stated that he believes he, Kris or Freddie will be evicted. Marcus discussed, in a very loose way, how the public might perceive people in the House and said that they might possibly think Sophie was "boring". Kris agreed and added that the public might think she had not done much. I should note, to be fair to both Marcus and Kris, that both of them gave the impression that they were talking about how the public might perceive Housemates, not giving their own opinions. At no point did anyone say that they actually thought Sophie would be evicted. Stage two was a conversation in the bedroom at which Marcus, Noirin and Sophie were present. Marcus continued airing his thoughts about the eviction and gave a loose report of his conversation with Kris. Again, he couched it in terms of how difficult it was to tell how the public might perceive the Housemates. At no point did he say he or Kris thought Sophie would be evicted. Everything started fairly calmly but Sophie appeared to start to take it as if it was a criticism of her and, pretty much out of nowhere as far as I could see, believe that Marcus had said that Kris thought she would be evicted because she was so quiet. Stage three is the most interesting stage: Sophie reported back to Team Nasty and suddenly the entire conversation mutated into the idea that Marcus was stirring, picking on Sophie and making up things that Kris had said. Team Nasty now had the idea that Marcus had reported Kris as saying that Sophie "was quiet". Marcus did think Kris had said something like that, although in fact Kris had said that the public might perceive her as "not doing much" (which some might think was a worse thing to say). The final stage was the confrontation, when a confused and upset Sophie talked directly to Marcus, with Kris constantly interjecting that he had said nothing about Sophie. Note here that despite the confusion, with both Marcus and Kris believing the other had said Sophie "was quiet", in fact neither of them had said it, although they had both said something similar. The really interesting thing here is the way an entirely innocent and, on the face of it, fairly honest and friendly conversation between Marcus and Kris was mutated by Team Nasty. At the end of the process, Marcus was under attack from the whole team, including Kris. I note at this point that Lisa said the most unpleasant things about Marcus, despite knowing next to nothing about what had happened, yet she only said them in the privacy of the bedroom, surrounded by her unpleasant cronies. As far as I could tell from the HLs, she said nothing within earshot of Marcus himself. Once again, a real indictment of the way the Nasties react and can turn innocent conversations into unpleasant attacks on other HMs. |
Sophie needs shooting for crying about it and so does kris for saying he never said she might go cause the public might see her as too quiet and saying it was marcus that said it.
Kris to go! |

Bump good thread shame about the lack of response.

Good run down, the most important part is that both were discussing how the PUBLIC may think, not how they think - yet they both still denied. Another pawn in team nasty's game.

This isn't the first time Sophie has blown a remark out of all proportion.
She did the same with Halfwit a couple of days ago after being locked in the bathroom - she went round the whole house saying "he swore on my Chihuahua's life!" over and over again. On that occasion no-one took any notice of her, but I got the impression that she was trying to instigate a bitch-fest. |
Dogface got her false breasts in a twist over nothing.
:nono: |
Also did anyone notice sneaky Karly coming into the kitchen to "brush her hair" She loves an argument that one, can just picture her at schoo; being the type to goad people into arguing and fighting then standing back to watch it all unfold...........I hate her:mad:

Sophie is dull as dishwater and is the most pathetic housemate i have every seen in the history of BB. (My personnal opinion)
When either Kriss, Lisa, Karly or Sophie mention anything to anyone of this group they all automatically believe. It doesn't even enter their heads to go to the source like mature adults and find out the truth. I can't wait to see the back of all 4 of them. I am going to be bankrupt by the time all four of them have gone voting them all out. |
there are more people hated than sophie!!!! so shes not going to go tonight!

OP is an excellent analysis of the situation
Sophie is a complete waste of oxygen. |
Sophie is literally the stupidest person ever. First she caused that big row over the 'quiet' comment, the intent and context of which sailed over her head in any case. Marcus should have just said 'actually I meant you might be voted out because you're a moron', so that there could have been no arguing against it either way.
Then just to clarify how much of a moron she is, later in the episode she declares her love for the disinterested Kris, who'd proved beyond doubt what a dishonest pussy he is earlier in the epsiode, a man so charming that Sophie's own family are voting him out to get him away from her. I know that if the rest of the housemates get picked off by that gang, buoyed by the addition of bipolar cocktease Noirin, there's a chance Sophie could win as the least detestable of their little gang. I really hope not, as I don't think idiocy of that magnitude should be financially rewarded. Brian Belo was bad enough, though at least then his unrequited fake romance was endearing rather than vomit-inducing. |
agree with analysis but you missed the part when karly told dogface about the marcus /kris conversation, which caused the kick off. her intent being to discredit Marcus
Karly needs taken down a peg or two imo |
Sophie, I just killed your dog to shut you up!
