To be honest I think he is what Jesus might look like. Cause Jesus was fromt he middle east as well.

You can buy them from some shops near religious shrines in Iran, because they are worn by mollahs (if you want a very basic description of what is a mollah, I would say equivalent of a mollah in christianity is a priest). so it is considered as religous clothes in many muslim countries. I imagine he probably bought it cause they are comfortable.
