Marcus often talks about Noirin to the other HM's, he was discussing her with Lisa too, and Lisa telling him outside there would be no hope.

Its like hes talking out loud to himself, trying to make sense of "their relationship".

Marcus hasn't a clue about relationships. He's crazy about Noirin and doesn't have the emotional experience to handle her rejection.

But deep down I think he's a soft-hearted guy really. I like him.
