I have to disagree, it's only really the last season when they started to present her as an out and out villain like Francis rather than someone who did terrible things but felt conflicted about it....

Season 3 was the worst one mainly because of Francis tbh, that was the series where he became too much of a pantomime villain and he lost a lot of nuance that the character had.
