Arrested for driving without road tax in about 2001. The offence took place in Essex where as I live in the midlands so it took about 3-4 years for them to catch up with me. They sent reminders - I ignored them, they sent a notice that a warrant for my arrest had been issued to my local station - I ignored it. Then about two week after that five coppers almost kicked my front door down and that is not an exaggeration - for a traffic offence.
One of them gave me a load of bollox about how they dont know what the offence is when they do arrests like that so have to use force. I was like 'whatever mate'. All this happened in front of my neighbours but thankfully my daughter was not there.
Night in the cells - which I do not recommend at all - and they drove me to Harlow to be tried and cuz I already had a night in the cells they gave no future punishment.
The journey to Harlow was only one way so I then had to find my own way home from down south.
Lesson learnt - Never ever ignore police notices
