Comes at no surprise, obviously, but the timing is salacious.

Is he anxious about the Mueller investigation? There was a rumor he was ready to announce, but he was waiting until after the mid-terms to release anymore details. I'm not saying they are correlated, but that will be one way of looking at it.

It may be true as well Trump was waiting until after the mid-terms, so him kicking the pink slip at Sessions at this point is a no-brainer. Maybe he made a promise to wait until after the elections.

I'm not sure he should've kicked him out right after the mid-terms. But maybe, he is trying to stoke the media since he knows they have tended to draw the most outrageous conclusions from this. It could also be strategy. It has worked in the past.

It's good for Jeff Sessions, because he won't be seen as a Trump bestie given the instantaneous resignation. So that will save him the ritual ridicule from media & pop-culture.
