I'm not saying that from the perspective of defending bookies; in fact I think the machines do immeasurable harm and are highly additive.

they have not solved because they are imagining people doing £2 roulette spins. There is a reason for the "new" £2 limit. That reason is that SLOTS ALREADY HAVE A £2 LIMIT that will be unaffected by the new max spin stake,and customers have already moved from roulette to slots. Since the stakes cut was announced, they have been encouraged and incentivised to do so at an increased rate.
Slots are more addictive than roulette.
People spend LONGER playing slots than roulette (I have seen people entranced for 5+ hours).
I've seen people straddle two or three machines at once spinning slots.
Slots are toxic and the problem hasn't been fixed. In fact, the heavy push to get people away from casino games may have inadvertently pushed them towards the FAR MORE ADDICTIVE slots.
Mess.
Sorry guys these things aren't going anywhere. Not until I get my PhD and tackle the problem properly
