I don't think people realise what they're asking for when they say this, chuff. People would literally starve. There's this idea that because we've been this well off, modern, comfortable country that it's "impossible" for us to fall into eastern-european style poverty. It
isn't impossible at all. We are not a self-sufficient nation. We do not have the farming capacity or natural resources to BECOME a self-sufficient nation or even close to it. We need free, open, local trade, and lots of it, whether that sits well or not... the idea that we can replace the EU trade area with imports from Commonwealth nations or emerging economies is ludicrous.
