Don't agree whatsoever, just look at all the views his performances get on YouTube there is a huge interest in Rhydian and many people who like his style. He would sell records no matter what. Opera is still popular just look at the likes of Katherine Jenkins or Russell Watson. Plus Rhydian has something extra, he's got great stage presence, so I can imagine him selling records and selling out shows.

I don't think the average veiwer or voter of The X Factor listens to Katherine Jenkins ; Rhydian is entertaining to watch, but can stage prescence really come across when listening to a CD?
Regarding G4 ; as that was the first series, the whole concept was new, so releasing three cover albums, as they did, wasn't something particularly common or related to reality show contestants. After four series, people are now expecting more, and cover albums are a disappointment.
I think G4 had one original song on their three albums, and it was really crap. (My sister used to be a big G4 fan, though she wasn't by their third album, so I can't comment on that)
