Exactly... she's no doubt quite well suited to musical theatre for that reason. In musical theatre the voice is an instrument in a larger show so it just has to be someone who can sing well live / has good control over their voice... the entertainment is that it's a whole show.

For releasing music singles and albums, especially as a solo artist, a great voice just isn't enough. The voice and the singer has to BE the show... so either the voice itself has to have something unique about it, or the person has to be charismatic and interesting in which case being a technically amazing singer doesn't even matter that much.

Ironically, that's the whole "X Factor" concept . She just doesn't have The X Factor, despite having a great voice.
