He really should have stuck to sing Opera Songs, that is where his talent is.

The average 15-25 year old would be ashamed to tell their mates that they have the complete works of Rhydian. The guy doesn't have much street cred.

While no one over 30 with any taste would buy his records. The people that like popular music will see him as an Opera singer trying to do pop and failing while the Opera lovers will snub him for trying to do pop.

He can't win really. After his initial fame wears off he record sales will fall greatly and he will be left competing with all the other Opera singers singing popular music for a share of a very small market.
