Obvious reason for this; he's a much more normal / reasonable person in a one on one in real life, and hams up his opinions on telly / in the media deliberately for notoriety. Being controversial for fame.
Same reason that Katie Hopkins wasn't actually all that bad on CBB, when her comments in the news / her columns etc. are ****ing horrendous.
