I've never played a Dragon Quest game, but if you want a really good RPG game to play then you should play Shin Megami Tensei: Lucifer's Call/Nocturne if you haven't already played the game as it's brilliant imo. And rock hard too without being too unforgiving like some games can be in my view.

I've beaten Bioshock 2 btw, a really good game imo, not as good as 1 but I did like the game and the Big Sister's were horrible to fight.
