They are and that's wrong but frankly that's because the elderly in care are often treated absolutely abysmally. It's really shameful. They're also not treated very well in hospitals, either, so honestly I think it just comes down to being devalued in people's mindsets. It's diminishing returns for age in hospitals really. Kids are usually very well supported (which is great, obviously). Adults for the most part get acceptable care. The elderly are treated like an afterthought and a burden... Or like they're invisible. It's just shocking.
