your metabolism slows down, your heart rate drops, your blood pressure goes down, and your stomach isn't contracted due to nicotine. Those things alone will make you put on weight, even if you don't eat more, and you do eat more, to take your mind off it and because food starts tasting delicious because your taste buds start to recover
I smoked 30 a day for 35 years, stopped and never looked back ... and now i'm one of those superior non smokers
