Derm O’Deary\'s Killer wish
Quote:
Derm O’Deary's Killer wish X FACTOR host Dermot O’Leary shocked bosses by admitting he wanted American band The Killers to get the Christmas No1.
The winner of the ITV1 talent show has taken the festive top spot for the past two years – meaning champ Leon Jackson is in line this year.
But Dermot announced during his Radio 2 show that he preferred The Killers’ Don’t Shoot Me Santa.
And his wish may yet come true after a glitch meant thousands could not download Leon’s single.
Music giant Sony BMG struck a deal to sell the song, When You Believe, on iTunes from midnight on Saturday.
Then the download link crashed, with red-faced Apple blaming too many requests. The firm was not able to get it running until Sunday afternoon – potentially costing Leon tens of thousands of crucial sales.
X Factor chief Simon Cowell went ballistic on hearing of the fault.
He said: “I’m extremely frustrated and disappointed by this massive cockup.
"But hopefully this won’t stop Leon getting a Christmas No1.”
Banned
The debut single by last year’s winner, Leona Lewis, was downloaded 50,000 TIMES in the first half hour.
Meanwhile, five Welsh radio stations have banned Leon’s single amid claims votes for hometown favourite Rhydian Roberts could not get through jammed lines.
* WATCH out for X Factor judge Louis Walsh as Prince Charming’s dad in a panto on The Paul O’Grady Show on Channel 4 tomorrow.
