Anything which is an original story, and isn't a part of a successful franchise, or not a recognisable property, wouldn't be a hit at the cinema nowadays - with the exception of childrens' animations and (at a lower level) horror.
So basically any hit film from the 80s and 90s that wasn't a sequel.
ET, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters, Home Alone etc. wouldn't do well now.
Actually Shawshank Redemption didn't do all that well when it came first out, only getting more recognised when people watched it at home later.
