There's obviously no exact equivalent as hormonal imbalances play a huge part in post-partum psychosis, however I find it HIGHLY unlikely (from the description of what happened) that this act was carried out by someone "in their right mind". Most likely scenario with a baby involved would be an underlying disorder coupled with sleep deprivation (which is a common trigger for things like extreme bipolar disorder and psychosis). Three nights with severe sleep deprivation is enough to start aural and visual hallucinations in
perfectly healthy adults with no underlying mental health problems.
Obviously such a horrific outcome is extremely rare and we don't know the full details, but I wouldn't rule out psychosis "of a sort" on account of him being male.
