The rhetoric and message after the war was always "we will never tolerate this again". Has that now changed to "Well OK we'll tolerate a little bit of it but we'll DEFINITELY not tolerate it if it goes too far "

"Actual Nazis" didn't spring up suddenly over night. The ideology crept in whilst normal people said, "Oh it's not that bad, nothing to be concerned about, just a few nutters" until WUPS...

At this point I think it's pretty obvious that we've forgotten. I suppose it was inevitable, when it all fell out of living memory?
