...I think ultimately, high street shops can’t compete with internet prices... book store prices for instance, can’t match what those books can be sold for on Amazon..the cost of premises rental in town centres is very high...and as Shaun said, there’s the convenience of delivery as well ...on the internet, things are just a click away...I wonder what the faces of town centres will be in the future as there are less and less retail outlets...We’ve had many coffee shops and restaurants closing down as well, as they can’t sustain...less people shopping/less people having coffees and lunches etc...maybe the buildings will eventually all become private housing...The future of town centre living may be much more affordable, without the ‘convenience’ of town centre facilities...
