Default 17 year old Irish boy murdered and dismembered in suspected gang attack

Quote:
GARDAI have confirmed body parts found in two different locations belong to a missing teenager.

Tragic Keane Mulready-Woods' remains were recovered inside a burning car abandoned in the Drumcondra area of north Dublin this morning.

The gruesome discovery was made before tests of other remains found dumped in a sports bag in the Coolock area of northside Dublin on Monday night matched the DNA profile of the 17-year-old.

A spokesman said: "An Garda Siochana investigating the disappearance of Keane Mulready-Woods have had it confirmed by Forensic Science Ireland that partial human remains discovered at Moateview Drive, Priorswood, Coolock on Monday 13th January 2020 are those of Keane Mulready-Woods.

"Keane is a 17-year-old juvenile, he disappeared on Sunday 12th January and parts of his remains have now been discovered.

"This is a brutal and savage attack on a child and is completely unacceptable in any normal democratic society.

"The level of violence is shocking and the investigation into the murder of Keane is being co-ordinated from Drogheda Garda Station.

"It is important to remember that Keane was a child, a young boy, trying to find his way in life, he has now lost his life and his family have lost their loved son and brother.

"Keane was last seen in Drogheda by his family at approximately 6pm on the evening of Sunday 12th January 2020.

"At this time Keane was wearing a Navy Hugo Boss tracksuit, Black Hugo Boss runners (brown sole, black laces), Red/Orange Canada Goose jacket and a Gucci baseball cap.

"At approximately 9.55pm Monday 13th January 2020, gardai responded to a 999 call that a bag containing human remains had been found at Moatview Drive, Priorswood, Dublin 17.

"A black "Puma” sports bag was recovered which contained partial human remains.

"At approximately 1.30am Wednesday 15th January 2020, gardai responded to a call from Dublin Fire Brigade stating that there was a vehicle on fire at Trinity Terrace, Dublin 3.

"Further partial human remains were recovered from this vehicle.

"A number of searches have been conducted in the Drogheda area on the 14th January 2020, one search location remains ongoing at present.

"Incident rooms have been established at Drogheda, Coolock and Mountjoy

"Garda Commissioner Drew Harris has visited Drogheda and Coolock Garda Station and assured the investigation teams of the full support of the Garda Organisation in this investigation.

"A family liaison officer remains in close contact with Keane's family."

Deputy Commissioner John Twomey added: "An Garda Siochana is determined to bring those behind this shocking crime to justice.

"In recent years An Garda Siochana has made significant progress in tackling organised crime through arrests leading to convictions and major seizures of guns, drugs and cash.

"This focus will continue. As always, the help and support of communities is vital to this."

Keane, who had links to both factions in the deadly Drogheda feud, disappeared on Sunday night after going to meet an associate.

His family reported him missing on Monday and just hours before the body parts were found lying on a footpath in Coolock.

Tonight's confirmation of his barbaric death also comes after his sister posted a tribute to him on Facebook.

She said: “You are so special in my life that I know no other person will be able to take your place my brother.”

Following the grim discovery on Monday night, gardai in Drogheda swooped on six properties linked to both sides of the gangland dispute.

One of the homes remained sealed off tonight and was being treated as a “crime scene”.#
Gardai made a number of appeals at the press conference tonight.

They want to speak to anyone who has knowledge of Keane's movements from when he was last seen in the vicinity of Dominic’s Bridge, Drogheda.

They are looking for information or dashcam footage from anyone in the Moatview Drive, Moatview Gardens, Dublin 17 area on Monday, January 13 from 9pm to 10pm.

Information on the movements of a blue Volvo S40 bearing false registration plates 141 MO 1925 which was abandoned and set on fire in the Trinity Terrace, Dublin 3 area this morning.
