I disagree, I think it has thriller elements sure but the deaths are pretty brutal for it's time, I remember watching it when I was about 14 and finding it terrifying, more so than a horror like Freddy with way more gore just because Halloween is mostly about the stalking rather than the deaths and the music is literally brilliant
