Do you know what usually happens if you ignore a parking ticket?
Nothing.
Months, years, of empty threatening letters. Eventually threats of court action. That usually doesn't happen either. Usually the letters just stop.
A small percentage of people get taken to small claims court "to make an example" but most people never actually have to pay a penny... They rely on compliance, and people believing that there will be consequences for not paying.
