However, it didn't inspire them to make GOT. They made "Rome", which was amazing but only spanned two 6-episode seasons... It's excellent from start to finish... And very clearly the inspiration for the GoT TV series. I think it's actually higher quality though.

I'm thinking the brutality and darker edges of GOT wouldn't have seen it even make the airwaves without BSG already being a success at that kinda thing already.
Plus imo BSG's last season whilst ropey in places, it never gave me a season like season 8 of GOT thankfully, although I could've done without a certain relationship forming in season 4.
I've never watched Rome, is it a good show then?
