Not only do I prefer subtitles... I actually can't watch things that are dubbed. It's pretty much always just awful... The voice acting quality is usually poor... And you don't get the essence of the scene at all. It can totally ruin some films tbh. My father in law revealed that he watched "Dark" on Netflix dubbed and I was nearly SICK. The show is so... German. The whole atmosphere, the aesthetic... It just doesn't work at all dubbed into English.

The same goes for the more recent "Marianne" (French). It only works properly in French. Je Suis Mariaaaannneeee etc.

Yep, the first film I noticed that with was "City of God" (Brazilian film, which EVERYONE should watch if they haven't already). I got totally immersed and I suddenly realised at the end of the film that it had been in Portuguese... But when I remembered scenes I could "hear" them in English! bizarre.
