After the fact it will be the old ' ah well that was ages ago, let the past go' , while it is still fresh in the minds of everyone affected and the concern still showing in those that haven't lost anyone there needs to be scrutiny now.
It shouldn't lead to more errors, not sure why it would. It won't be the same people reacting to new challenges who focus on the old.
